Originally, I had the TWolves giving up a 2024 lottery-protected first too but decided to replace it with a SRP - Grant's value is hard to gauge since his stats were inflated by being the only good player on a bad team last year. However, this package I feel is fair for both sides.

Why the TWolves do it:

They've got probably their best chance since Butler left to make the playoffs, assuming players stay healthy. This finally gives them a good fit at PF next to KAT and it's these kinds of moves that genuinely signal to your star that you're confident he can lead the team deep in the playoffs.

Why the Pistons do it:

Grant doesn't fit the team's timeline while Beasley/McDaniels do. The team isn't aiming to be good this season so it makes sense to acquire as much value as possible before Grant becomes an expiring deal next season. It's a very good return for Grant, giving the team trade flexibility down the line to add a star next to Cade while also testing out how good these youngsters can become.
