With another season seemingly lost to the wind, the Hawks are in a pretty unfortunate spot as it stands right now. They're giving up pieces for draft picks and don't seem to be in a great spot to make the playoffs while not controlling their own pick for the next 3 years. With Trae Young potentially getting fed up with a lack of winning, this would spell complete disaster for the Hawks for the Spurs' benefit, whose window has been smashed wide open with the newfound duo of Wembanyama and Fox. However, this Fox pairing also makes it difficult for the Spurs and the Hawks to make the easy trade of giving Young to the Spurs for their picks back because, well, the Spurs don't really need Young anymore. This leads to Orlando jumping in to take Young, as they're a team in desperate need of offensive help and a table-setting point guard. Trae would add to a great 1A/1B/1C scoring dynamic with Orlando's wing duo and take pressure off of them to both score and handle the ball (and vice versa also goes for Young). The Hawks, to get control of their first-round picks, send parts of their young core to the Spurs, with Jalen Johnson and Okongwu beefing up the Spurs' frontcourt by way of Johnson's dynamic wing play next to Fox and Wembanyama (Spurs have an insane set of creators) and Okongwu functioning as a backup center for Wembanyama to create one of the most loaded rosters in the league to win now. Obviously with Wembanyama poised to sign a record-breaking contract in two years there will be some financial choices to make with who the Spurs keep but this lets them continue to stockpile picks and in my opinion is a good problem to have as Johnson or Vassell will be on a very reasonable contract for a 3rd option. Some smaller financial moves, iirc, would have to be made to get Okongwu on board but it wouldn't have to be a major piece I don't think- let me know if I'm wrong about finances here and what adjustments could be made.
