First of all I'm not a KAT fan but if the Trailblazers really want to try to stack their team and not trade Dame this could be an option if they like KAT
PORTLAND: Getting 2 All Star players in BI and Kat, while also getting one of the best young defenders in the league with Herb. I believe the fit between the potential big 3, offensively, could be something very special. Ingram can serve as a ball handler at times which will help make Dame's job a lot easier, especially with KAT's ability to space the floor. The potential for Dame to get a lot more open shots while having 2 co-stars that can get you anywhere between 20-30 on any given night could be something the elevate them into the conversation of contending. It'll be necessary for one of Nas Little or Matisse Thybule to improve their shooting, which will determine who could be put into the starting lineup. Or Portland can use them in a trade to try to bulk up their depth. Which then Nurkic comes into the conversation. I could see them keeping him as a back up that can play big minutes, but I could also see them use him in a trade, packaged with Thyulle or Little, for depth as well. Portland will have to fill some holes and get more shooting but the potential of the team built this way can be very intriguing.
MINNESOTA: Most people probably agree, trading for Rudy Goebert was terrible. But this trade can give the Timberwolves a spark they desperately need. Since they're stuck with Geobert they have to move on form KAT. This trade allows Minnesota to get more versatile on defense with Jerami Grant, who has also become a 40% 3 point shooter. I view Grant as a way more developed version of what Jared Vanderbilt was for Minnesota. They'll also receive the 23rd pick in this years draft to help build for the future along with Shaedon Sharpe. Sharpe is a fascinating young player who showed some splashes of what could be a potential star. Minnesota would likely have him play big minutes on the bench in hopes of him developing into a starting role in future years. Minnesota will have to find a back up point guard either throughout the draft or another trade.
NEW ORLEANS: At this moment Zion's future with the Pelicans is up in the air. I could see them moving on, but what is the value of Zion to other teams? Will they get a haul or will the be disappointed with what teams would offer? This trade allows the Pelicans to take a deep breath and build this team around Zion while also setting themselves up well if they do decide to move Zion at some point. Zion is still very young no need to rush. Getting the #3 pick the Pels will most likely land Scoot Henderson, who has been linked to them for the past week. He's a dynamic guard with a super high ceiling and could be a building block with Zion. Simons, to me, is one of the most underrated offensive players in the league. He can score from all 3 levels and is only 24. Cam reddish was a cap filler to make the trade work, paring him back up with Zion and maybe he can finally find his footing in the league. Trey Murphy will have a bigger role after this trade too.
Let me know if this is awful, what you would change, or if you can potentially see this working.
