Blazers Facilitate Herro/Jovic Reroute

SUCCESS

I saw a report earlier today that if the Bucks were to accept Miami's package, they would prefer rerouting Herro and/or Jovic. I'm interested in all opinions (but preferably Blazers fans), what do you guys think of this trade?

  • Are the Bucks getting enough of a return?

  • Is the upgrade from Sharpe to Herro worth returning swap-rights to Milwaukee?

  • Are the Heat giving up too much?

Additionally, here are my thoughts on the pros/cons of a Sharpe/Herro swap:

PROS (for Milwaukee)

  • Sharpe is coming off of a 20.8 / 4.3 / 2.6 season on 45/33/79 splits

  • In games this season (19) with 32+ minutes, Sharpe averaged 23.9 / 5.2 / 3.3 on 44/36/80 splits

  • Downgrade from Herro (Career 20.5 / 4.8 / 4.1 on 48/38/92 splits) but Sharpe is younger (~23.1 vs 26.5)

  • Bucks will likely be bad post-Giannis era -- getting rights to own pick is very valauble

CONS (for Milwaukee)

  • Sharpe was essentially a non-factor in playoffs

  • Very questionable defense and injury history (but similar comparison can be made for Herro)

PROS (for Portland)

  • Herro is more efficient, consistent, and experienced (1 finals appearance in 2020, but did not play in 2023 finals)

  • Could fit well alongside Dame and Deni

CONS (for Portland)

  • 20M -> 33M cap hit going from Sharpe to Herro

  • Lose leverage to Milwaukee by returning valuable pick-swaps
