Why Each Team Does This:
Miami Heat: I believe this trade fixes the Miami Heat's holes that were blaring in the finals. Powell brings scoring off the bench something that was nonexistent in the finals, Covington brings rebounding and a versatile defender, and Wright brings an amazing backcourt defender to pair with Herro. This trade also frees up a million in Salary this year which might make the front office feel a bit more at ease with resigning Gabe Vincent.
Washington Wizards: They get picks for Chris Paul and get out of this trade without getting any bad contracts. Really nothing more to be said on their front.
Los Angelos Clippers: They finally get their experienced lead guard for one more run at the championship. They also get this without having to give up any picks. They aren't really damaging their roster either with this trade. Covington rarely sees minutes and although Powell is a nice scorer they already have that in Gordon coming off the bench. This trade and a possible signing of Westbrook for a vet minimum brings them the backcourt they have been looking for throughout the George and Leonard tenure. They also get off the three year contract of Powell.
