Pat Riley could do it, but does he even want to get the Heat out of mediocrity?

SUCCESS

After getting absolutely cooked by the Cavs one thing is for sure, the Heat are mid. Teetering on the edge of being outright bad. They could do so much in the offseason, Miami is such an attractive place for free agents and trade desires, but does Riley even want to? Whether or not the Heat actually do something this offseason is still up for debate but I cooked something up here that makes me happy imagining.

Addressing the KD rumors, I like it. KD is pretty much out of Phoenix after that whole debacle, Miami and him are said to have mutual interest, Miami has the assets to make a trade, make it happen man. KD is still that guy and will continue to be for a few more years. In this role he can go back to his original small forward spot where he is most comfortable while having elite guards to get him in his positions and good big men to do the heavy lifting that he's currently tasked to do on Phoenix. Yes they'd have to give up most of their good 3&D wings for that but it's still Kevin 'freaking' Durant. Finally you can regain the superstar production you lost when Jimmy left and then some because KD is still way better than Jimmy even at their ages. Miami gets their superstar once again, the Suns can get good wings to plug n' play next to Book and Beal as they can now somewhat play in their favored positions, plus 2 first round picks. 'Nuff said, make the trade, next.

Jordan Poole will be electric in a backcourt pairing with Tyler Herro. I know the defense will be called into question but the offensive end would just be a dream to be honest. We've seen what JP can do in this role back in the Warriors, under Erik Spoelstra I have no doubt that he will get better. Not to mention getting rid of that Terry Rozier contract which speaking of, you may be asking why would the Wizards do this trade, and I say because they sell high. I mean Kyle Kuzma was a sought after guy in the trade deadline last year cause he was cooking, now he was so bad that they had to settle for an old ass Middleton and were lucky to get away with AJ Johnson and a '28 pick swap when in previous years they could've been offered a lot more. Now with JP you wouldn't wanna make that mistake again and with how loaded the 2025 draft class is surely you'd be willing to pull the trigger for a trade then, even if it means taking up a years' worth of a bad contract with Rozier. They also get an older guy in the locker room again to kind of mentor the team and shift some mindsets in the young guys. I think overall though, the Wizards would be massive benefiters from this deal because of how valuable any pick from the 2025 draft class is and the Heat would be getting a championship caliber combo guard that can play off ball and on ball in what could be a very electric Miami offense... if all goes according to this plan, that is.

Now a really important topic to think about is depth. For as cool as Jovic and Jaquez off the bench is, they're gonna need some more.. punch, if you know what I mean. Firstly, retaining Davion Mitchell, obviously. But in actual free agency they're gonna need to be aggressive, no time to be fearing of being under the second apron. The Clippers have way too many great players in their 9 man rotation to really leave out just for the sake of adding in Amir Coffey, Coffey is a great next guy option but surely he'd like to play a lot more, sign him. Cam Whitmore is no longer seeing the floor much in Houston and is entering unrestricted free agency, the Rockets may want to keep him but surely you can outbid their price as I don't think Houston's willing to let Cam's salary past the 8 digits mark, sign him. Ousmane Dieng is never gonna see the floor in OKC, take chance on him. Give yourself a chance to be competitive in this unusually competitive eastern conference, that's all I'm asking for.

In my honest opinion, hindsight is overrated, it's kind of crazy that teams restrict themselves to the possible moves they could make to help the team win all because they're afraid that it'll look bad in 3 years, like what?? Isn't that crazy? I mean as long as it's not a move like the Bradley Beal trade where we could all tell immediately how that was gonna go, I think you should always give yourself a shot to win especially when you're not even in a bad scenario like the Heat. You've got great 2nd-3rd options guys in Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, a solid foundation of young pieces in Kel'el Ware, Davion Mitchell, Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez, and you don't wanna give yourself a chance to win it all just because if you don't it might look bad in 4 years?? I don't know, maybe I'm the crazy one here but to me that's just insane especially with the actual talent this roster has.
