Hornets talent grab in Jarace Walker

SUCCESS

It’s not secret the hornets majorly lack talent outside of Ball, Miller, and Williams. In the trade they take a risk in buying low on promising forward Jarace Walker from the pacers. For the price of the 27 Miami pick and their own 26 SRP as well as solid defender/playoff contributor in Josh Okogie they take a chance on Jarace as their starting Power forward.

Why would the pacers do this? Jarace has shown great flashes but he hasn’t been able to reliably crack the rotation due to their forward depth in Obi Toppin, Siakam, or even Isaiah Jackson when healthy. They get back good draft capital for a player who doesn’t play and get back a player who increases their perimeter defense, the one area where I think this team currently struggles.

Why do Hornets do this? Giving up a FRP, even a lottery protected one, hurts, but Charolette has had a major problem in attracting free agents and even drafting well. They just need to do whatever they can to increase the flux of talent to the team to even begin to think about building a competent roster around their budding stars.

Let me know what yall think! Should Charolette be giving up more picks? Or would the pacers be happy with this return for a bench player?
