The Bulls are only willing to offer Giddey $20M per year, and Giddey has made it clear that he wants $30M per year. No team will pay Giddey $30M per year given his curent level of pay; however a team like the Orlando Magic (in desperate need of a pass first PG) should be willing to offer Giddey somewhere in the $23-$26M per year. Knowing this is the best offer he will get, Giddey will have to take the deal if he wants to play basketball next season. The Bulls will have the option to match this offer, but given the length of this standoff the Bulls would likely have already offered Giddey this money already if they were willing to pay that much for him. This forces the Bulls to complete a sign-and-trade with the Magic, which they have to agree to. And since the Bulls have to agree, the Magic have control over the Bulls return package. It would make the most sense for the Magic to send out Wendell Carter Jr to the Bulls in return both financially and practically. Wendell Carter Jr is the least reliable of the Magic's three rotation big men and is very injury prone; he also makes $10.8M per year, which is enough money off their pay role to keep themselves under the first apron. If they chose to gain more first apron space, they would waive Jett Howard after the trade and stretch his contract over the next five years.
