TRADE OVERVIEW:
Denver Nuggets Received: Marcus Smart, Corey Kispert, Justin Champagnie
Washington Wizards Received: Michael Porter Jr and 2031 Lottery-Protected First-Round Pick
TRADE EXPLANATION:
Denver Nuggets – The Nuggets traded MPJ for more depth. One of very flaws of Denver this season is their depth and they should try fixing it by trading someone like MPJ. They got 3 Quality players for it. They got Marcus Smart, former DPOY and could be a solid offensive player for them. He will make the team much better in my opinion. they got Kispert who adds high-efficiency 3pt shooting around Jokic’s gravity. He averaged 12 PPG on almost 40% 3PT(5.6 attempts per game) last 3 years with the wizard. he would be a great player off the bench. while Champagnie offers wing depth which they need especially with MPJ gone. he is a really solid 2 way player. MPJ will be missed but with his incosistency in the playoffs? denver should really try to move on from him and get what they really need(depth, defense and shooting) so that they could maximize Jokic's window.
Washington Wizards – Wizards traded for MPJ and tries to get his value up so they could trade him on a higher price. MPJ is inconsistent but he is still a 26 year old player with still a little bit of potential to tap. he just needs a new scenery. they also got a pick for him because of the contract and yes his contract is big but for a team like the wizards they are willing to take it because of how spacious their salary cap is and they are also on a rebuilding mode.
