So the idea was to get a great young player back without giving up young pieces if possible. Magic get a good young piece in this trade in Hayes with only giving up Ross and MCW expiring and a few seconds. Yes the have Carter jr and Bamba but Hayes is a good young talent who matches the current Magic timeline and is used to coming off the bench and giving a spark which the Magic need. Pelicans need more help off the bench and Ross and MCW gives them added depth and much needed offense while Zion fights his was back. Pelicans are in a tough spot and don’t have much to offer to get help. This isn’t a major move but at least adds some help and assests for the future just in case it doesn’t work with Zion.
