Here's the trade that inspired me: https://fanspo.com/nba/s/general/trades/Y1GTagr9spdyjO/kyrie-to-toronto
I really think the Raptors screwed their salary situation with the Poeltl contract, paired with Quickley and Ingram, caps their flexibility almost completely. At least this way Kyrie's contract ends sooner, Gaffford is a more playable then Poeltl and this clears $2,376,645 for this offseason to help retain Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Mavericks take on some long-term contracts that are overpays for sure but they get an unprotected pick next year, a way to salvage the 2028 swap that OKC has over thier pick, and a 2029 pick that could be in the lottery with Kyrie off the Raptors theoretically, though the raptors would protect it to prevent it from jumping into the top of the lottery. They're just giving the Mavericks a late lottery - late first, which isn't an awful position.
