This is the first installation of my competition in the Dubta Trade Challenge of October 2025. The prompt is to make a semi-realistic trade to shake up the league, and my mind immediately jumped to Houston and the Fred VanVleet contract. This trade is the result of that thought experiment.

Why the Kings do this:

Between Reed Sheppard and two first-round picks, the Kings are unlikely to find a better offer for Domantas Sabonis. For a team that should be rebuilding, they should jump on this deal ASAP.

Why the Rockets do this:

The Rockets put together the two “mini Jokic” players in Sengun and Sabonis, with the goal of a ridiculous juggernaut on offense while maintaining a passable defense. These goals should be very possible when considering that this twin towers duo is combined with Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, Tari Eason, and Jabari Smith Jr.
