Well… that’s not how I expected this situation to end. Anyway, instant analysis go!
Wizards Grade: A+
Washington gets that lead scorer they have needed for AGES to setup their young guys who were meant to be secondary guys all along. They gave up 0 true long-term assets and this deal makes the Wizards a true contender for the Eastern Conference Championship. Trae Young is one of the most underrated players in the NBA and will be RIDICULOUS for my hometown team. May have to try and get to a Wizards game now. Never thought I would say that. I’m a non-awful logo away from being a Wizards fan
Hawks Grade: D-
At least it wasn’t Khris Middleton I guess? Trae Young is worth way more than this and I haven’t seen anything suggesting that picks are going Atlanta’s way. Dyson Daniels and CJ McCollum should work fine together but I can’t give it any higher than a D- because you couldn’t even get that late protected 2026 Thunder/Rockets pick out of Washington in this deal. Kispert is also a fine player but alongside Luke Kennard he’s probably pretty redundant. Hawks should have waited a bit longer and gotten some more offers.
What do you think of this trade? Looking forward to discussing it with you all in the comments!
