edit: was looking at potential deadline/26 trades and got lost in the numbers, my orignal thoughts to get magic under the luxary tax was incorrect. i will leave it in just to give full context on my thoughts, again happy to hear from people to get their thoughts
context
not a magic or wizards fan, im just interested in how both teams will perform and improve this year, from an outsider looking in, i think this trade solves problems for both teams. let me know if you think im fixing non existing problems or if im creating additional problems as a result
magic (using spotrac for the numbers)
25/26 over the luxary tax by 5.5mil
26/27 projected over the second apron whilst only having 12
players on the books for that season
trading black solves both problems
i get moving on from the 6 overall pick is difficult but this might be one of the hard decisions the team will have to make to extend their timeline from a book keeping perspective
what the magic get from this trade
rotational wing on a very cheap contract
2 x 2nd rounders
25/26 get under the luxary tax
26/27 fill out the roster and remain under the second apron
wizards
in a season i see as "throw it at the wall and see what sticks" adding another young piece who is a very good defender and playmaker. not a bad deal for a couple picks and a wing.
let me know your thoughts
