Why they do it: The Pelicans have to move off of Zion Williamson. He's not a guy you can build your future around. With numerous problems, including injury, fitness, and off the court issues, he's just too unreliable to keep around. They must get off of his contract and build around Brandon Ingram if they want to win a title.

Why they do it: The Cavaliers have to move off of one of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, or Jarrett Allen. It can't be Mitchell after what they gave up to get him. Mobley's potential is too high to move off of. That leaves either Garland or Allen. Reports say that it won't be Garland. Due to the new CBA and their cap situation, they can't give all 4 all star caliber players the max that they deserve so Allen has to go. They turn him into a solid center, a first round pick, and 2 swaps.

Why they do it: You can't build a championship contender around Karl-Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves have tried year after year and failed. They must give Anthony Edwards the key to the franchise. Allowing Zion Williamson to step back and be a #2 option may take some of the pressure off of him. They get rid of Towns for Williamson and get ready to compete.
