I am starting a series where I will cook up a trade for any player that is in trade rumours and has a possibly high chance to go out the door.
Pelicans: Although they made the playoffs it was short for NOP as they get swept by the Thunder and go back to the offseason not making much improvement from last year. They have a very talented roster that just can't seem to click, mostly because of Zion always finding himself injured but they lack in some areas such as the guard position. With Trey Murphy likely to get a contract the Pelican have rumoured to be focusing in on him rather than Ingram and are putting Ingram up for sale. Murray would be a perfect piece for this team, a bucket getter who is able to create his own shots finding space between his opponent. This creates an unstoppable duo between him and Zion with both of them getting most of their points in different areas on the floor, Murray beyond the arc and Zion at the rim. With their starting centre being a free agent it might be hard to resign him although they could possibly free some cap space with his contract and instead settle for Capela. Capela is a great complementary piece with this Pelicans defence applying rim protection and contesting shots around the key. Both of these with a SRP to tie it all together is a great package for Ingram, it still keeps them competitive while fixing areas that they lack in.
NOP Expected Starting Lineup: PG: Dejounte Murray SG: Herb Jones SF: Trey Murphy III PF: Zion Williamson C: Clint Capela
Hawks: Well the Backcourt between Murray and Young is horrible and after how this season went it is a no brainer to break this backcourt apart and look for new options. Atlanta is lucky though finishing with the number one pick in the lottery allowing them to make some huge decisions this off-season. After making the conference finals in 2021 it's probably too late to give up on this team now which is why getting a different secondary star behind Young could work perfectly. Ingram in my opinion is the most underrated player in the league, like a baby KD he has a silky stroke making him deadly in the mid range game. When on fire he is unstoppable and with his vertical + Wingspan makes a dangerous lob threat besides Young that teams need to look out for. They also get a nice replacement for Capela in Nance Jr who may not be as good as Capela but applies great production off the bench and is key to a championship run. Now guessing that Atlanta picks Sarr we could possibly see a lineup that embodies the lob city Clippers and shakes things up in the Eastern Conference.
Hawks Expected Starting Lineup: PG: Trae Young SG: Bogdan Bogdanovic SF: Deandre Hunter PF: Brandon Ingram C: Alex Sarr
