This has turned out to be my most viewed and most controversial trade yet. The Suns are in a tough spot. Their most accomplished player Kevin Durant just requested a trade. They mortgaged the farm for KD, and really this started with the Chris Paul trade. Then they traded the few assets they had left for Bradley Beal. Beal has a no trade clause and Kevin Durant is one his 4th NBA team. All that being said they have to go for it. The Suns only played one season together. They just got a new coach. Kevin Durant turns 35 this season. If I’m the Suns I’m trying to compete this year and if it doesn’t work out. A lot of dudes on this team will at least net you an unprotected first. Booker would probably get a haul.

The Suns need a PG who can run an NBA offense. Big wing defenders, and big’s. Out of those three things. I think the Point guard is the hardest to find. That’s the guy you identify and trade for. There are plenty of declining bigs, busts, and other bigs that you may revive on the free agent market. Plus you already have Nurkic. All you need is one to two more. Dwight Howard, Nerleon’s Noel, Bismac Byombo, Myers Leonard, are all guys who may not be good enough for other teams but can come in and play well enough for the Suns. There’s not that many PG’s in free agency that you still trust to play good defense and organize their offense. Brogdon can do both.

Out of all the players and assets they’re losing in this trade, Allen is the biggest loss. Although I think it’s over stated. He’s not the big defensive wing they need, and he’s certainly not a big. He can’t run an offense, so he’s not filling a role, that’s the biggest reason you trade Allen for Brogdon. The picks are late and those guys won’t contribute anyways remember they’re in win now mode .
