Clippers make a move │ Bulls blow it up │ Nets capitalize and get younger │ (would happen after Dec. 30th or at the deadline).

Clippers reasoning:

They need to do something to shake this roster up and doing this allows them to truly go all-in. Acquiring a 4th star-level player on an expiring contract whose value is at an all-time low. You're already all-in. Why not dig the hole you're in a little deeper? It's not like Hyland looks to be in their future plans anyway. And Mann is already 27.

They need defensive size and spacing in the front-court and Finney-Smith brings both in bunches. He makes it so Kawhi Leonard and Paul George don't have to take the hardest defensive matchups every night in the regular season.

Vucevic would be a life saver for them. He's bad defensively, but they have two guards (James Harden and Russell Westbrook) who have taken a step back in terms of offensive skill and need spacing to operate. Zubac is skilled offensively, but he can't make a shot out of the restricted area which is where Harden and Westbrook primarily operate (especially to get their games going).

Starting lineup would be James Harden, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Nikola Vucevic. James Harden can run with Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, Kobe Brown and Ivica Zubac for the first bench unit. (P&R partner for Harden, athletic lob threat and pesky defender in Brown, spacing in Powell, and of course Kawhi and Harden).

Then it can be Russell Westbrook, Norman Powell, Paul George, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Nikola Vucevic with the second bench unit. Infinite spacing for Russel to operate so he doesn't have to charge into 3 defenders in the paint cause he's playing alongside Paul George and 3 other non-shooters.

Bulls reasoning:

This only works for them if they sniff around and no one else is willing to offer more for Vucevic which, more than likely, no one is. Acquiring Hyland gives them a guard they can re-sign and give playing time to as their rebuild begins. Plus, they could send Plumlee to another team for even more 2nds. He's a decent backup big on a very friendly deal.

Nets reasoning:

Dorian Finney-Smith is 30. And he's playing some of the best ball of his life. He was part of the deal to send Kyrie Irving to Dallas, so they probably hold him in high regard. At least a first round pick. Well, what did Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski tweet about all during the James Harden saga? That Terance Mann is worth at least a first round pick to multiple teams. Perhaps the Nets get him and flip him to another team for the draft capital. Or they can could even keep him and make their core even [slightly] younger to fit with Mikal Bridges' timeline.
