Charlotte, who are rebuilding their team after trading LaMelo, have decided to step away from their contract with Dorian. By doing so, they get a younger player and a valuable draft pick. However, there's a big worry about DiVincenzo's health. He tore his right Achilles tendon in April 2026 and is probably going to miss most or all of the 2026-27 season. Before the injury, he was averaging 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 37.9% from beyond the arc. If he somehow comes back this year, Charlotte can take a gamble on him since he's an unrestricted free agent. They also get an extra second-round pick, which helps with their rebuilding efforts. In this trade, they're giving up DFS but getting back some picks, which is a solid move for the frontcourt.

Minnesota seems like a better fit right now. Finney Smith is a solid defensive forward who can guard different positions, stretch the floor, and play well next to Anthony Edwards and Minnesota's big men. He also fits better in terms of position than DiVincenzo. They also signed Kuminga, who is pretty good but has been inconsistent, especially in the playoffs and even during the regular season, so DFS players might need to take a bigger risk on him. They added Sidy as well, who is a pretty solid bench player who can score when called upon.

Grant is a proven rotation forward who can defend multiple positions and hit three pointers. Avdija can handle more playmaking, while Grant provides spacing and defense around Ja and Dame.
