I know that this doesn’t seem like enough for Giannis, a unanimous top 5 player in the NBA, but I’m compelled to compare to the Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers from 2019.
The move was AD for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first round picks (including #4 in 2019). I think it’s clear to see a comparison between Ball and Podz, BI and Barrett, and Hart and Kuminga. Not to mention, Milwaukee would be receiving more than three picks, including swaps. It may not be the best package, but Milwaukee would want to do right by sending Giannis to a contender.
It ends up costing Golden State a lot to get Giannis but it solidifies who they expect to pass the torch to once Curry is gone.
Further, thinking about what that Warriors playoff rotation would look like, it’s scary.
