Mavericks get off a TON of long term salary. Klay DLO Martin and Hardy won't be top 8 rotation guys next year despite combining for $53m against the cap after this year. Gafford is a good player, but he's expendable if AD is staying and also is owed $54m after this year. Getting off all that guaranteed money is worth it by itself. Plus, either or both of Coby White and Ayo Dosumnu could prove to be keepers.

The Bulls move off $49m in expiring money (including three guys at the same position) in order to take on future money. In exchange, they get swap rights in 2032, as well as a starting center of the future. Klay and DLo will both be expiring next year, allowing them to do this again at next year's deadline. Gafford should allow Chicago to have a competent defense for once, especially if Buzelis and Essengue develop as expected on that end.
