The Lakers move off their unused expiring contracts and Vanderbilt’s bad deal to acquire Andrew Wiggins and Haywood Highsmith, two wings who can provide some perimeter defense, in exchange for basically just a 2031 pick swap.

The Nets land a pick in this year’s draft from Miami, a 2031 pick swap from the Lakers that could become quite valuable, and create major cap space for next offseason — giving them flexibility to absorb more bad contracts in exchange for draft compensation.
