Two Separate Trades Here: Trade 1 - Bucks & Heat: Bucks: Herro, Ware, Jakucionis, Rozier, Smith, 2028/2030/2031/2032 Heat Swaps, and 2029 Unprotected Heat: Giannis, KPJ, Gary Trent, Sims, Thanasis
Trade 2 - Mavs & Pistons Pistons: AD, BWill, Dlo Mavs: Harris, Robinson, Ivey
Trade 1 Breakdown: The Heat shove all their chips in the middle to finally secure the superstar they've been waiting on...Giannis. They lose Herro, not much to lose, but Ware and Jakucionis are two great young flyers to have on your roster, so that hurts. But the prize for the Bucks comes in all of the Heat future firsts, mainly in swaps. It's obvious why the Heat do this...put together a starting lineup of Mitchell, Powell, Wiggins, Giannis, and Bam...easily the best starting lineup in the East, with nice pieces like Larson and Jaime coming off the bench. This immediately makes the Heat one of, if not THE favorite in the East. The Bucks do this for the immediate hard rebuild that comes with it.
Trade 2 Breakdown: The Pistons see this move, and decide it is time to push some chips in the middle and defend their incredible season that they've had thus far. They buy very low on a ceiling raiser in AD. They give up Harris' expiring money, Robinson's medium sized contract to make the money work, and really all it costs them is Ivey's future upside. The Mavs do this for the main reason being, moving off AD's money, they literally will be a second apron team next year with no changes, not counting resigning players and their incoming rookie they have to sign, so they literally have to do something, and why not nip the problem in the bud in trading AD. For the cherry on top, you get a high upside player in Ivey, a good role player in Robinson, and almost $30 million in expiring money.
I think this is a very possible Giannis move, maybe less firsts genuinely not sure just how big the return will be for Giannis, and I could see teams in the East immediately try a panic move in reaction to a Giannis move. Let me know who says no here.
