Why Blazers do it: Best to move on as early as possible from Dame at this point. They’re relationship is heading toward the end with his recent comments making that obvious, so why not cash in on as big a return as possible for Lillard if you’re Portland? In this move they’re not only rebuilding in the now but also for the future by adding Lonzo Ball, Tyrese Maxey and four 1st-round picks (one for this year and three in the next few years) - along with a future 2nd. Ball presents a fantastic option as a young point-guard to lead them into the future while also netting Maxey, who flashed a lot of potential this past year as a rookie - especially on the offensive end. But most importantly now with a completely replenished hoard of draft picks in the future now, Portland can rebuild their roster into the coming years however as they see fit.

Why Pels do it: Upgrading their point-guard position from Lonzo Ball to Ben Simmons should be an obvious decision for New Orleans. Lonzo might as well be Simmons-lite with less impact on defense and the glass but a slightly better shot. However Simmons is a proven all-star. People can say what they want about his shooting, but he’s arguably the best on-ball defender in the league. The Pelicans could be a fantastic fit for his playmaking ability as well having Ingram and Zion running up and down the court. Overall this is just what you’ve been rebuilding toward as New Orleans with the potential of a roster including Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson.

Why Sixers do it: Dame is an insane upgrade over Ben Simmons on the offensive end of the ball - end of story. That really is it too. Philly just doesn’t have enough versatility on the offensive side of the ball with Simmons’ flaws as a scorer and they’re best option being a big man. Without enough added production from the perimeter and the backcourt as a whole, the Sixers will never live up to full expectations. In this move that all changes. Dame is arguably a top-five scorer in the league and can drop 40+ on any team at will. Pairing him with Embiid will make for one of the scariest duos in the East and would complete the “Process”.
