Jalen Duren S&T to Toronto

FAILED

This Jalen Duren situation has gone on far too long. It seems like the solution has to involve Sacramento and Domantas Sabonis, but who says Duren has to become a King?

Why the Pistons do this:

Detroit gets an All-Star caliber center and a second offensive hub in exchange for a player who they weren’t really interested in bringing back anyway. You’ve seen the justification for Detroit, let’s move on.

Why the Kings do this:

At 24 years old, Jalen Duren doesn’t really fit on the Darius Acuff timeline. The Kings really have no need to be good this year, and Duren might be more valuable as a trade asset than as an actual player for Sacramento. Here, they acquire RJ Barrett, who has a chance to really shine in a greater role this year, as well as an unprotected first round pick, which should set them up for a much stronger rebuild.

Why the Raptors do this:

Toronto cleans up their deep wing room and solves the Jakob Poeltl problem, all while bringing in two very solid bigs in Duren and Collins into one of the weakest big man rooms in the NBA last season. The Raptors become one of the best rosters in the East even more so than now, and this team has a real shot at a championship in 2027.

What do you think of this deal? Who accepts, who passes, and why? Looking forward to the discussion in the comments!
