Hypothetically the Hawks and Trae Young don't seem to agree on contract negotiations. Trae could easily decline his player option and leave for another team like the Brooklyn Nets, who have cap space and other players to work with Trae. Atlanta would want to get the most for him and would want another star. For the Grizzlies, the Ja Morant era hasn't gone well with them being a much better team without Ja and trading Desmond Bane away. The Grizzlies need to make a change and getting Trae might be the move. Trae comes into a gritty defensive team with great young talent that he can elevate and Ja goes to a highly shooting team that can help him score on the inside and cover up his mistakes. For the struggles with the contracts, the Hawks give up an first as Trae could leave if the Grizzlies don't commit to him long term.
