Right after a shocking trade that sent Paul George to the Clipper for 7 first round picks, the Thunder traded away long time Thunder vet Russell Westbrook to the Rockets. The trade would mark the start of Westbrook’s decline as he never reached the MVP level he played at again. The full trade was Russell Westbrook to the Rockets for Chris Paul, first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 and the right to swap first-rounders in 2021 and 2025. The Thunder started stocking up on picks. As for the Rockets, Russ only stayed there for 1 year before being traded to the Wizards as they started tanking, trading James Harden as well. The Thunder now have an arsenal of picks and I doubt they regret this trade seeing where Westbrook is now.
