This whole idea hinges on the Pistons taking a young guy (Nnaji) who has been up and down, with 4 years left on his contract, and hoping a new environment with more potential playing time makes him more consistent. They get a 2031 1st round pick as compensation to take that risk. Even if he doesn't work out, his contract is $8.8 million the next two years, but actually goes down for the final 2 years to be in the $7 million range. Nuggets then buyout Pickett, who has been awful, and replaces the two players they lost with two guys on vet minimum deals that would help the teams bench depth way better than the two they lost.
