In a trade that shocked the NBA world, the Timberwolves traded young Star Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the 7th overall pick (Lauri Markkannen) to the Bulls for Jimmy Butler and the 16th overall pick (Justin Patton). At the time, the Timberwolves seemed stacked with 2 former number 1 overall picks in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns and a star in Jimmy Butler. However, this didn’t really pan out as Butler was only there for 1.5 seasons and Wiggins didn’t pan out, being traded to the Warriors. Meanwhile, Zach LaVine has been the MVP for the Bulls since this trade and is still getting better. Minnesota definitely regrets making this trade and if they had just held onto LaVine, they might have had a corps of KAT, LaVine, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and D’Angelo Russell.
