This is a bit of a weird trade so here's me trying to explain it;
The Bucks- who receive a better backup PG than George Hill (which is probably the thing they need most) however do lose Bobby Portis who is a good big man for them. They receive a couple of seconds without giving up any picks which IMO is great for them.
Next is the Bulls, who are already title contenders. With Sabonis, they become title favorites. Their starting lineup would be; Lonzo Ball, LaVine, DeRozan, Sabonis and Vucevic. That is unstoppable. They lose DJJ (who’s not bad but replaceable), Patrick Williams (hasn’t done much for the Bulls, still lots of potential) and their FRP for this upcoming draft + a 2027 SRP. That is a great trade for them.
The Cavs trade Lauri Markkanen and a couple of picks for Jerami Grant and Wesley Matthews. Jerami Grant would be a great piece alongside young stars like Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, and Wesley Matthews would be an experienced veteran who can mentor all of the young players. This is great for the Cavs.
The Pacers in this trade is really interesting. As we all know, they’re going towards a rebuild and the assets in Bobby Portis, Patrick Williams and DJJ on a rebuilding team is great IMO, and they also get an FRP for this year which is also great. They do lose TJ McConnell, who is a good PG but with an injury history.
Lastly, the Pistons. They receive a 2025 SRP, 2023 FRP and Lauri Markkanen, (who’s having a good season as a starter on a team who is outperforming everyone’s expectations) in return for Jerami Grant, who the Pistons needed to move on from anyway.
What do you think? Who wins? Who loses? LMK
