The Hornets haven’t been a super rumored destination for Giannis but it would make some sense for both sides. Not a whole lot of prelude, let’s get right into explaining it.
Why the Hornets do this:
The Hornets have been improving in recent weeks on the backs of LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, and Brandon Miller. What if that run makes the front office want to win now? With Giannis, that core becomes a true contender in the East. If they stay healthy, they could win a lot of games and end up around the 5 or 6 seed in the East, and once they make the playoffs it’s anyone’s game. This team instantly becomes the best in the East for the next five years.
Why the Bucks do this:
Milwaukee brings in six firsts, four swaps, and some second round draft capital in exchange for Giannis. This is the largest star trade package since Paul George went to the Clippers, and we saw how that ended up in Oklahoma City. Milwaukee also gets Miles Bridges for a tank commander, however ironic it is that he is on a team with Kevin Porter Jr., as well as some other role players whose value could improve in a larger role in Milwaukee.
