Utah trades the number 2 pick and Lauri Markkanen
Washington trades the #1 pick and Trae Young.
Utah Jazz Perspective Utah moves up in the draft to select their number one prospect AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa already has ties to Utah and the midseason trade for JJJ makes Markkanen expendable. This trade would allow them to fully commit to rebuilding around Dybantsa.
Projected Starting Lineup: PG: Keyonte George/Trae Young SG: Ace Bailey SF: AJ Dybantsa PF: Jaren Jackson Jr C: Walker Kessler
Washington Wizards Perspective Washington moves down one slot to take Darryn Peterson and fill a positional need. Peterson recently stated that he views himself as a point guard. Moving Trae Young opens up the starting pg spot for Peterson. The wizards manager Will Dawkins also stated that he wants to be a team that consistently makes the playoffs. Acquiring Markkanen gives them a playoff caliber starting 5.
Projected Starting Lineup: PG: Darryn Peterson SG: Bilal Coulibaly SF: Lauri Markkanen PF: Anthony Davis C: Alex Sarr
Note: For this trade to work Trae Young has to accept his player option.
What’s everyone’s thoughts. Would Washington or Utah have to add more picks?
