First trade: Nets & Houston Nets give: Dariq Whitehead & provide Houston with unprotected rights of our 2027 rather than it being a swap Houston gives: Tari Eason
Second trade: Nets, Lakers & Magic Nets give: DFS to the Lakers & Dennis Schroder to the Magic Magic gives: Anthony Black to the Nets Lakers give: Jarred Vanderbilt to the Nets & JHS to the Magic
Third trade: Nets & Hawks Nets give: Ben Simmons, Cam Thomas, 2025 PHX FRP (Top 3 Protected), 2027 PHI FRP (PHI Top 8 Protected), 2025 MIA SRP, 2026 Nets SRP, 2026 SRP (via DET, MIL or ORL) Hawks give: Trae Young
The first trade is upgrading our forward depth, adding a great defender in Tari Eason who's stats are below for last season: 21.8 MPG, 9.8 PPG, 7 RPG, 1.2 APG on 46.6 / 36 / 63 splits (FG/3P/FT). Rebounding has also been an issue outside of Claxton & Day'Ron Sharpe for the Nets, since we run a reasonably small lineup - So Tari may assist on that side as well
The second trade allows the Nets to get younger while adding some young talent. Anthony Black, though he had a somewhat underwhelming rookie season had great defensive stats (Defensive rating of 113.1). Additionally, Black had stats of 16.9 MPG, 4.6 PPG, 2 RPG, 1.3 APG on 46.6 / 39.4 / 61.3 splits (FG/3P/FT). Though his Free Throw % is quite low, PG's tend to take a few years to fully adjust to the NBA. The Nets adding Jarred Vanderbilt allows us to maintain some great versatile defence while getting younger. Vanderbilt's best attributes is his rebounding & defensive ability. His Rebounding went down from 6.7 last season to 4.8 this season but that was likely due to injuries (he only played 29 games).
The third trade gives the Nets Trae Young. Trae Young would be the offensive machine of our team and with the surrounding cast of players being competent to great defenders i think it would be the best situation for him. Though Trae isn't a great defender due to his size, he definitely improved his effort on that side, being the 14th top Charges Drawn per game. His offensive ability speaks for itself, being the 3rd player in history to average 25 & 10 for 2+ seasons in a row. His stats are 36 MPG, 25.7 ppg, 2.8 RPG & 10.8 APG. His splits are 43 / 37.3 / 85.5 (FG/3P/FT).
I think if these trades were to happen it would really bolster our competitiveness over the next 7 years while only giving up 3 FRP (which the 2 non PHX picks are likely low value anyways) and 2 Second round picks. We'd only really have 1 true "star" in Trae, so we likely wouldn't face significant issues with luxury tax etc
