Reunite Pascal and Fred in Houston?

SUCCESS

I was going through places where a Siakam trade would make sense, and Houston seems to make a sneaky amount of sense.

The Rockets owe their next three picks to the Thunder, through picks or swaps, so they are incentivized to shift to winning (hence their moves for vets). To say that the Rockets have been looking to make a splash this offseason would probably be an understatement, too. A star trade would make a lot of sense, as they are also about to have more young guys than they can realistically continue to develop. To get a star, the Rockets would have to anchor a package with either Green, Amen, Sengun or Jabari, and Jabari seems to make the most sense, especially in a Pascal trade. Jabari is an excellent prospect, but one who disappointed in his rookie year. He also plays the same position as Pascal, so it is a natural fit.

Houston ends up with a starting lineup of FVV/Green/Brooks/Siakam/Sengun, with Amen, Cam Whitmore and Tari on the bench, which is really promising.

Houston can also probably feel good about being able to re-sign Pascal because they have a big market, a young contending team, and FVV is there. So, it's a risk, but a calculated one.

For the Raptors, they are only going to deal Pascal if there is a high value young player coming back. Jabari plays that role here. He would be an excellent fit next to Scottie Barnes, and would totally change the Raps' spacing if he can get his shot back to where it was in college. Jabari probably still works best as a PF, and being next to a real center in Poeltl would work well. The wing rotation of Jabari with OG and Scottie would also have a lot of defensive potential.

The other players are mostly filler. The KPJ experiment is probably over, and the Rockets would probably be happy to get off his contract. The Raps probably don't want him either, but something needed to match the salaries. Tate is also going to be squeezed out of the Rockets rotation this year, but would provide a decent rotation piece in Toronto.

Maybe an outside possibility, but one that makes sense and is not being talked about.
