The Nuggets need to move off of MPJ, this could be a move that they make? Breakdown below:
NUGGETS: Obviously this makes more sense for the Nuggets. Like I said, the Nuggets need to get off of MPJs contract this offseason to allow them to build the roster more. This way, they get a pure scorer in Cam Thomas in a sign and trade, similar type to MPJ, which they could use as another option next to Murray and Jokic. Cam Johnson is a perfect wing sixth man for the Nuggets as an vet of the bench. They would need to add draft compensation to incentivize them to do this, and Payton Watson hasn't really grown in a limited role with the Nuggets, so they would be willing to get rid of him. The Nuggets could add more swaps if they needed. They also get a 2nd rounder, so they have a little draft capital to move in a future move. Dariq Whitehead just makes they money work. Starting Lineup - PG: Murray, SG: Thomas, SF: Christian Braun, PF: Aaron Gordon, C: Jokic, Bench: Johnson, Strawther, Nnaji, Westbrook, others
NETS: This makes less sense for the Nets, but their is an explanation. Cam Thomas seems like a young player they can build around, but they aren't close to contending. Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton are probably gone this offseason, might as well clear out any value you have and open up as many minutes for the rookies they are about to draft. They get back MPJ as a vet that they can rebuild his value and flip at the deadline or next offseason. They get some draft compensation down the line they can trade when they are closer to contending. Peyton Watson is a player who may develop with more minutes and the Nets can give him the runway and time to see if they can. Lineup: To many variables to make any projection
