OG to the Pacers

SUCCESS

The Pacers have been trying to get OG for a long time, and it seems like the time could be right for a deal. The Pacers have always been confident in their ability to re-sign OG, since he went to College there. OG fills a huge hole in their lineup, and would be an amazing fit. The weakness of the Pacers is on the wing, and OG's defensive perimeter ability would combine well with Turner's rim protection to solidify a strong Pacers defence. A future core of Hali/Mathurin/OG/Turner and Jarace Walker (or Bruce Brown, if he keeps playing like he has been) would be very potent, with a lot of upside. Those guys also remain largely cap controlled, giving the ability to afford OG's next contract.

For Toronto, the biggest piece of Andrew Nembhard. The Raps need a point guard of the future. Nembhard is a Toronto boy, and also quite promising, in that regard. In Indy, he is superfluous, and blocked from starting for the foreseeable future by Hali and Mathurin. For Toronto, however, he would be well set-up to be the team's point guard of the future.

The Raps also need some shooting pop. Gradey will help with that once he develops a bit, but Nesmith could provide that now. He's 24, and will be an RFA this summer. He lost his starting job to Bruce Brown in Indy, but with an OG deal, Nesmith could slot into Toronto's starting 5. Nesmith is tall and long for a shooter, and would slot into the shooting guard slot OG has been shoe-horned into.

A deal around Nembhard, Nesmith and a pick would give the Raps two young pieces who fit Scottie's timeline, and makes much more sense than trading for picks that won't convey until Scottie is on his second contract.

Win-win for both sides.
