The Wizards have been linked to point guard play for quite some time now, especially with growing pressure to potentially make a push towards the play-in sometime in the next couple seasons.
Contractually, the Hawks could take in the expiring contract of either McCollum or Middleton and, with the former aiding Washington to a very strong December, McCollum would contribute to some additional scoring in Atlanta's rotation, whether it be in the sixth man role or as a veteran presence in the starting lineup.
Four years of Corey Kispert seems dicey, but a reliable shooter off the bench for the Hawks (as well as picks) would be an immediate upgrade over Kennard, who I have Atlanta dealing to Washington as well.
On the flip side, while Trae Young would create a pair of defensive issues in Washington's backcourt for sure, assuming Tre Johnson continues to start for the Wizards, I love the fit as a table setter for the young bucks in George, Sarr and Coulibaly.
It's a cheap, low-risk move for the Wizards, given their current situation, and it allows the Hawks to get some value for their former franchise star. What do you guys think?
NOTE: obviously, picks would factor in more heavily in this trade, so don't think too hard on the draft capital in this potential trade! Definitely could see more headed Atlanta's way.
