I made a joke trade involving Kuminga to the Lakers and some people liked it unironically, so I think it is time to set the record straight: Kuminga is a positive asset and will be traded as such. I wrote an article a while back (last time Kuminga was undergoing trade rumors) and may have to start recirculating it if the Kuminga slander continues. Anyway, let’s get into the merits of this particular trade.

Why the Warriors do this:

The Dubs attempt to rehab Kuz’s trade value (which is very possible; I don’t think he’d be a terrible fit in GS) and acquire a swap with potential to be a lottery pick. Good deal for Kuminga with a lot of upside.

Why the Bucks do this:

Kuminga, regardless of his fit with Giannis, represents a “big game” acquisition like the Bucks have been looking for. TJD also fits like a glove, and this is a cheap price for both.
