Welcome back to another trade by kawntent sports and the newest installation of the Realistic Destinations for Dame series. In this one, Damian Lillard joins quite possibly the most exciting young core in the league, the San Antonio Spurs.

Why the Blazers do this:

The Blazers now control the Hawks’ entire future with this deal, one that is looking confusing with Murray inking a long-term deal, locking in his pairing with Young. They also get a young center by re-acquiring Zach Collins, opening up flexibility for a Nurkic trade down the line. This package is slightly better than the one offered by Brooklyn, and that’s San Antonio’s goal here.

Why the Spurs do this:

The Spurs pair their new superstar with a proven winner in Dame who has led subpar teams to the conference finals with clutch performances throughout his career. The pairing of old and young allows mentorship and the creation of a dynasty that could last a long time. Plus, the Spurs keep most of their own picks, allowing them lots of future flexibility and giving them trade assets.
