SUCCESS

This trade makes sense for all parties, in my mind anyway, and I wonder whether others see it that way.

LAL: They get a much more reliable paint presence than Deandre Ayton, while on the offensive end WCJ has the shooting upside the Lakers could benefit on by taking the swing on him. Luka Doncic also has a habbit of revolutionalising big men and given Dalton Knecht is a player seemingly not providing any value to the Lakers, it's not a huge loss.

Andrew Wiggins would be a very nice fit into the Lakers lineup, being a great 3&D piece which is a archetype that benefits Luka, LeBron and the lack of POA defenders in this Laker's roster. Parting with Rui may be rough as they part way from additional scoring, ball handling and shot creation from the bench, but I don't expect there to be many times where one of Luka or Bron aren't on the court, and you're hope Austin Reaves takes another leap into becoming a more dependable second option if the Lakers are serious about giving him the contract he is looking for.

Talking about POA defenders, the Lakers waive Shake Melton and acquire De'Anthony Melton to be another high level perimeter defender. This takes their rotation from relying on a 40 year old Lebron. Vando, Gabe Vincent and a hopeful leap from Bronny to give them high end defence to now having Andrew Wiggins, Vanderbilt, De'Anthony Melton, Gabe Vincent and them wanting both Bronny and Bron to give them good contributions on that end of the floor.

MIA: From KD to Lauri to DeMar rumours and the plethora of other wings the Heat have, Andrew Wiggins place within the rotation and his contract makes it feel like his time in Miami is pretty much over. His biggest selling points are his great defense and ability to, at times, elevate to a high level contributer on the offensive end but looking at their roster, he isn't need and the Heat get their best possible return for him now rather than later.

The Heat have several good defensive options; Kyle Anderson, Davion Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, Kelel Ware and Haywood Highsmith are all high level defenders and Spo coaches them so well that the rest of their guys can fit in and be passable defenders, leading them to 9th in Defensive rating last year, while they were 21st in offensive rating. Rui addresses the offensive issues.

The Heat also get Maxi Kleber's expiring and both his and Terry Rozier's could always be moved to accomadate a bigger star, in true Heat fashion. Adding a higher level wing than Andrew Wiggins could also allow the Heat to shop Jaime Jaquez Jr, Simone Fotecchio and Nikola Joivc if the right player became available.

ORL: I've saw the Al Horford links to Golden State, but until they figure out the Kuminga situation I have a feeling they aren't making many moves soon.

Al Horford is going to give Orlando versatility on both ends and within lineups (something they like to have a lot of), spacing which the Magic could still do with (he hit 36% on 5 3PA a game) as well as still being a good defender. Also I imagine te second year to that deal be an option and not 2 years guarenteed beause it's a decent contract to willingly hand out to somone who may regress; but that's the ony risk they'll be having to take having Paolo play high minutes as the 4, the Magic still have Goga and Mo Wagner as true Centers, and having Jonathan Isaac and Tristan Da Silva be servicable forwards.

Dalton Knecht is another low risk acquisition, having had to be a big source of 3 point shooting for the Lakers pre Luka trade. That's all he's have to do for Orlando and he'll play in some very favourable lineups while doing so; playing with Anthony Black, Jalen Suggs, Jace Richardson, Desmond Bane and the immense amount of forwards and bigs who can facilitate at a high level, or defend at a high level.

They are spending 2 seconds because that's what happens when you're getting someone younger and on a better contract, therefore giving Orlando more flexibility having so muh money tied to Suggs, Isaac, Bane and Franz already. They also have a rotation as deep as 12, given how high you view Jase Richardson and when Mo Wagner gets healthy, which seems like a logjam until you remember Orlando's injury concerns seemingly season after season.
