BOS trades JB but takes Beal. For both moves Celtics are rewarded with a plethora of picks, which gives them access to top (and rookie-scale cost-controlled) talent and long-term flexibility while constructing a new roaster with longterm depth to contend when Tatum recovers from his injury. It’s the only way they can afford to take on Beal‘s contract. Maybe Beal, who is close friends with Tatum, can find to better form in Boston. In this year‘s draft, BOS picks at #10 (I couldn’t picture it here because Fanspo didn’t update Phoenix‘s picks list after the KD trade), #19, #22, #29 and #32. of course, they can consolidate these picks to move further up, if they wish.
Nets keep #8 and jump start their rebuild with JB as their centerpiece. In a weak Eastern conference, could they compete for a play-in spot if they are active in free agency?
Because Nets send Claxton to the Suns, the Suns send further picks to BOS. These are not just sweeteners for Beal‘s contract, but also for getting two young established players back. Phoenix seeks further trades for at least one of Jalen Green, Brooks and Simons.
