Allen trade and swap from #20 to #9

SUCCESS

I don't think the Cavs SHOULD trade Allen per se, but I think they'll choose Mobley over him. And I'm actually quite high on high on Allen--so maybe they should get more in this deal-- but this is what I think a deal for him WOULD look like.

The LeBron scores on this look bad for Cleveland, with Clarke being the only positive (at 0.15 too), but if you're rolling the dice and reckon that one of Aldama or Clark will become a capable spacing partner in the front court for Mobley, then the trade will be a success, particularly if one of the two draft picks hits as a playoff rotation guy.

As far as just players go, for the Cavs it's a clear downgrade--even if this trade anticipates the Cavs also move Garland or Mitchell. If they do, I think accordingly, Kennard (and Strus) complement whoever stays as an off the ball gravity shooter. Alternatively, the Cavs can also not pick up the Aldama and Kennard team options to clear up space (idk why tho)

However, this trade becomes fair with the Picks involved. The grizzlies have been strongly linked with Clingan at 9 if he falls, but if they get Allen instead, I think they'd be fine to trade back from 9 to 20 in this draft and pick up a potential depth guy there instead... and then with how good the Grizzlies expect to be in the near future, I don't think they're worried about the future pick.

Cleveland meanwhile, moving up to nine, have a chance to grab a high upside guy falling to them in the top 10. Guys like Cody Williams, Ron Holland, Buzelis, Risacher, and maybe even Castle would make a lot of sense for them here, but all would need to shoot it pretty well. And then the grizzlies' future pick might just be a low 1st potential plug and play rotation guy if the Cavaliers remain as competitive as they hope, which is icing on the cake if the #9 pick hits and one of the 3 traded players is a success.
