With Maxey, McCain, and Edgecombe, the Sixers don’t need to crowd their backcourt by re-signing Grimes. Instead, they trade him for Jonathan Kuminga, a defensive-minded young forward who will fit perfectly with this team.

Projected Lineup: McCain/Maxey/Edgecombe/Kuminga/Embiid

Why the Warriors do this:

Warriors brass seems intent on moving on from Kuminga. Grimes gives them a Klay-lite replacement for Kuminga who could help prolong this team’s success and push the rebuild back a few years if he keeps up his late-season breakout.
