Welcome to another blockbuster trade proposal by kawntent sports. Woj has reported that Harden has accepted his player option and wants a trade. Without an extension, this means Harden is under team control for just one year. Can the Sixers get Harden’s full value in a trade when they hold little leverage?
Why the Bucks do this:
James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo as a duo are simply unstoppable offensively. These two weapons each can’t be stopped by a single dude, to an even greater extent than KD and Booker or a similar lineup because these two could create a MONSTER pick and roll as well. The Bucks manage to absolutely SCAM the Sixers out of Harden here, and that’s why they should do it if for no other reason.
Why the 76ers do this:
The Sixers have just one year left of Harden and so he isn’t quite as valuable because he might just walk in free agency from wherever he is traded to. So, the Sixers take what’s likely the best offer in terms of players and acquire multiple-time All-Star and perennial All-Defensive guard Jrue Holiday along with a first round pick and a pick swap. Holiday’s playmaking and defense should work well alongside Maxey’s scoring and allow both to reach their fullest potential and solidify Maxey as the second option. This creates an incredibly solid defensive squad in Philly including Melton, Tobias Harris, Embiid, and others, and breaks the James Harden curse, allowing them to potentially get somewhere in the postseason and be able to guard top backcourts like Booker/Beal, etc. Defense wins championships, or at least that’s the goal for the Sixers here.
