Minnesota Timberwolves get: Jerami Grant and Cam Christie

Portland Trail Blazers get: Norman Powell, Derrick Jones Jr, and Josh Minott

Los Angeles Clippers get: Julius Randle

++Why each team does this:++

Minnesota Timberwolves: Jerami Grant's efficiency as a shooter combined with his defence makes him a much better fit alongside Rudy Gobert than Julius Randle. Despite Grant being more efficient and a way better defender, Julius Randle's rebounding, passing, availability, and his cheaper contract makes them have about the same value. It would be a risk for sure, but I think it's better than just keeping Julius Randle. Maybe it pays off immensely like it did when the Celtics traded for an overpaid and injury prone Kristaps Porzingis.

Portland Trail Blazers: The Blazers get Norman Powell and Derrick Jones Jr, who are both valuable role players that can be flipped for good draft picks and are easier to trade then Jerami Grant.

Los Angeles Clippers: If Jerami Grant is a better player than Julius Randle, why don't the Clippers just trade for him? The answer is availability. Jerami Grant's injury problems wouldn't be as much of an issue for the Timberwolves since they have a lot of solid role players who are generally really healthy and can step up for him not playing. But for the Clippers, not only do they have a worse roster, but their best player Kawhi Leonard is also super injury prone. So it's important for them to get someone available to step up when Kawhi isn't playing. They would be trading a lot of good defenders for Julius who's a bad defender, but they could balance out their defence by basically cutting Kevin Porter Jr from the rotation and giving more opportunities to their other good defenders like Terrence Mann, Nicolas Batum, Kris Dunn or even Kobe Brown. The fit with Zubac would not be perfect but since the Knicks were still a pretty good team with Julius Randle playing alongside Mitchell Robinson or Isaiah Hartenstein, I think it will work just fine since the Clippers goal would be to remain competitive, not win a championship.
