An offseason plan with trade and draft explanation, 15 man lineup after all transaction, and thoughts on this new-look team ~ feel free to leave comments on the plan!
Trade:
Hawks: Davis Bertans, Patty Mills, 10th pick
Nets: John COllins, Bruno Fernando, 2 srps (inc 2030 srp from the Mavs)
Mavs: Clint Capela, 22th pick
Nets can use a real PF, Collins seems like a good fit beside Claxton as a frontcourt, provide more offense to the team
Mavs need that real big man, if Capela fits Trae well he definitely fits Luka
Rockets: Joe Harris, 2 srps
Hawks: couple of socks
Rockets can eat in the expiring for srps, saves up Hawks cap space and get them below luxury
Draft:
10th pick: Jarace Walker (dream scenario)
16th pick: Jalen Hood-Schifino
FA:
Blake Griffin 1 year minimum
Omer Yurtseven 1 year 3M
Lineup:
Starting:
Trae Murray Hunter Bey Okongwu
Bench:
JHS Bogdan AJ Jarace Yurtseven
Reserves:
Mills Matthews Johnson Bertans Griffin
Conclusion:
Yes this is a very hot take move, but I think Hawks should slightly retool this season
Capela was a gd fit, Collins is too, but in particular Collins will not be good enough if Hawks rlly want to win some
And they will most likely be in the mid table range if they stay rollin with this squad, forever, so my reason of them retooling this season is: try to get a higher draft pick next season (the last season they have their own pick control)
Their picks will hv control by the Spurs after this season, so last chance of selling
Hawks hv quite much young talents, guys like AJ Griffin is yet to see mins he deserved, trading Collins and Capela away should help
And especially Okongwu, finally with Capela gone he can fully play his starting role
Drafting Jarace will be the dream option, defensively he rlly helps out Trae, and should be way better of a fit beside Trae
JHS also will be on the squad, with them alrdy filling their starting PF role they can afford drafting a talent they aim for the bench
This might still be a play-in team, but it allows them to free cap and just let young guys play, maybe a frontcourt of Okongwu and Jarace can bring this team to another level? You never know
