Celtics go all out to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo!
Let me breakdown why every team participate in this trade.
I don't really have to explain why the Celtics are doing this trade, they create a 3 headed monster with this trade. With Giannis at the PF position, Tatum can have a easier comeback starting at SF and Jaylen Brown goes back to being a Shooting Guard. The Celtics championship window is basically 3 years because they have got Payton Pritchard on one of the best contracts the league has ever seen for over the next 3 years. The Center position will rotate between Clint Capela and Neemius Queta. Both not the greatest Centers in the league, but all they have to do is be a good defender in de paint, rebound and hustle. Yes the Celtics give up a lot of future, but they might create the best superteam the league has ever seen!
The Houston Rockets. They are having a good season so far, but they really miss Fred VanVleet. A guard that not only great on offense, but also good on defense. Trading for Derrick White makes so much sense, because not only is he a better defender than Fred VanVleet, he is also arguably a better shooter than Fred VanVleet, Which is Houston's weakness right now. We also don't know what a 32 year old VanVleet looks like after missing a whole season with injury. By participating in this trade, they probably don't have to get rid of Tari Eason, which i will explain later. They give up 2 valuable picks (I want to know from you in the comments if the Rockets should trade the 27 Suns pick or the Swap with the Nets), but this feels like a no brainer for Houston's current situation.
Now it might look strange why the Bulls would want to acquire Anfernee Simons, but it will make a lot of sense. The Bulls are actually looking to be in the playoffs this year. it's no secret that they are might be trading for someone like a Zion or AD. Making a trade like that is so much easier when you involve Anfernee Simons instead of Patrick Williams. Not only has he more worth as a player than Williams, but he is also on a expiring contract! Now the Bulls have gotten 2 1st round picks for this year. It might look weird that the Portland pick goes to the Celtics, but at this rate the Blazers pick goes back to Portland. So if you send that pick to Boston, Boston can now by gaining the Portland pick, send out their own guaranteed first round pick to the Bucks. The Bulls gain Anfernee Simons by only giving up a pick that doesn't go to them in the first place and a top 10 protected pick which doesn't matter, because they finally get rid of the Patrick Williams contract.
Now the Final team, the most important one, The Milwaukee Bucks. It looks like it's really going to happen now, Giannis will be traded. The Bucks do this trade for multiple reasons. They have to tank as much as possible this year. So Fred VanVleet who is out for the whole season and Patrick Williams will help with that. Not only do the Bucks get 7 1st round picks, they get 1 or 2 valuable ones from the Rockets which is going to help them for the other year. By tanking this season, they might get a top 6 pick in the draft, which is that future young asset. The Bucks do not own their first round picks from 2027 until 2031! What they probably will do in this situation is trading one or a few of the picks they gained in this trade and combine with the salaries of Kuzma, VanVleet and/or Patrick Williams to stay competitive until they own their own picks again. So on paper do the Bucks get a young Player from this draft and by then a available star which helps them compete. Many ways to go after doing this trade for the Bucks!
Now let me know how you feel about this trade. I'm not saying this is going to happen, but a fresh idea compared to the most mock up Giannis trades we have seen thus far. Let me know if there should be picks involved/changed/removed or maybe still involve Tari Eason to the Bucks. Many ways to go, but possible!
