There's just something really good about this fit. It almost just makes too much sense.
Most likley scenario, the Mavs resign Kyrie in the offseason. He misses most of the regular season, gets back in time for the play in and at most the Mavs finish as a first round exit due to his drop in play post ACL tear and due to AD's fatigue. Backlash for Nico would increase even further after seeing the fully fledged roster flame out and maybe the discussion of breaking up the core commences.
If that does happen. AD makes so much sense on this Pacer team. Its ridiculous.
For one, the two man game with Hali. AD is the best pick and roll big man in the league. You pair him with one of the most efficient floor generals in the league and you have an explosive two man game. You could Davis rolling off of screens, curls and the threat of a lob is always there. Davis in the post is still a matchup nightmare since he's one of the best post scorers in the league and Indy has the floor spacing to take advantage of the gravity he'd generate. And that's just in the half court.
In transition Hali loves pushing the pace and the Pacers as a whole play at a breakneck speed. AD is great at running the floor which means those leak out opportunities will always be there.
AD would also give the Pacers a double big tandem that makes a ton of sense. Davis and Turner fit like hand in glove thanks to their footspeed and shooting ability. Turner is a legit floor spacing 5 and a solid enough rim protector that would allow AD to roam and create havoc defensively. AD also nullifies Turner's rebounding issues as he's one of the best defensive rebounders in the league.
The defensive potential of this team as a whole skyrockets. AD and Turner controlling the interior while also being capabale enough to switch out on the perimeter gives Indy some really interesting defensive versatility. And thats without mentioning their elite perimeter defenders (Nembhard and Neismith)
The only concern is the health. But Davis before this season appeared in 70 games plus and probably would've played more this season had the Mavs not rushed him back. The talent upgrade I believe would vault Indy to Celtic and Cavs tier. 2 bonfaide stars, a well balanced starting 5, great coaching and a deep bench. Perfect for a competitive push
