Why the Celtics do it: It's obvious this year is a gap year. The Celtics need to get off bad contracts they signed to keep them in contention after Tatum returns from injury. Sam Hauser is one of these contracts. Huaser isn't a long term piece for this team, and 4 more years of 10+ Mil is too much. The Celtics also need a starting caliber big man. Goga Bitadze is a cheap and reliable center to have for this upcoming season and the first one after Tatum's recovery. Bitadze could be a starter or bench player once the Celtics soft-rebuild the roster this offseason and the next.

Why the Magic do it: This roster has too many big men. They have 4 players around the same tier of player that can play center. Trading one of them to fill another role is crucial to succeeding in the wide-open East this year. This team still needs shooting, even after adding Desmond Bane. Hauser is perfect for this role and has championship experience. Even if it doesnt work out, Huaser is still good enough to be flipped to another team for more assets.
