Atlanta Hawks Off-Season Moves

SUCCESS

The Atlanta Hawks are in such an interesting situation, with them having been handed the first pick in this year's draft. I don't believe it would be necessary to tear anything down, but I don't imagine it would be sensible to carry on the Murray-Young experiment, which has faltered in the post-season while taking away minutes from future prospects. Therefore, I would attempt to trade Dejounte (the lesser player in my opinion) to a team in search of wins like Miami in exchange for a talented Herro (great fit with Young) and a pick. Furthermore, Clint Capela's large contract and ageing is not conducive to the organic growth I want from Atlanta. So I think it would be appropriate to attempt a trade to another team with a ticking clock regarding the window for winning: The Golden State Warriors. The warriors have been in search of a reliable big man for a few years, and I don't believe would be too nervous to send Wiggins the other way (a 2nd Round Pick was included to sweeten the deal for the Warriors).

Draft Picks 2024 (Mock Draft Sim):

1st - Alexander Sarr: Capela replacement, all star potential with high level, easily translatable defence, in addition, to shooting touch suggesting stretch 5 potential.

15th (From Heat) - Johnny Furphy: I really believe in the potential to be a high level role player/starter. He has a smooth jump shot even inside the arc which is evidence of his excellent shooting, and this paired with a 6'9 frame creates a positionally versatile wing made for today's NBA (+ will only be 19 on draft day, so he's far from done developing).

Team 2024/25:

PG: Young/Bufkin SG: Herro/Bogdanovic SF: Hunter/Wiggins/Furphy PF: Johnson/Saric C: Sarr/Okongwu

Team built for good current performance, high level future performance, and organic development.
